This Privacy Policy explains how Language Goats, Inc. ("Language Goats," "we," "us," or "our") collects, uses, shares, and protects information when you use PolyGOAT, including the PolyGOAT mobile app, polygoat.app, beta signup forms, support, and account deletion pages.

Information We Collect

Account Information

When you create or connect an account, we may collect your email address, account identifiers, display name, profile photo, authentication provider, and related account metadata. We use this information to create and manage your account, help you sign in, and keep your learning progress.

Anonymous Music Accounts and Music Data

Starting the music experience creates an anonymous PolyGOAT account so we can save the language and level you choose and provide the experience. You do not need to provide an email address or sign in to start music. We may also receive music feedback you choose to send, such as a like or dislike and the song identifier. Liked Songs and certain music preferences are stored only on your device.

Learning Progress and App Data

To provide PolyGOAT, we may store information such as your selected target and native languages, level, lesson progress, completed lessons, streaks, energy, app settings, notification status, timezone, and other state needed to run the learning experience.

Purchases and Subscriptions

If you buy, restore, or manage PolyGOAT Pro or another paid feature, we may process purchase and subscription information such as product identifiers, purchase status, subscription entitlement, renewal status, cancellation or expiration status, store transaction or receipt identifiers, app store account region, currency, and related diagnostics. We use RevenueCat and the applicable app store or platform, such as Apple App Store or Google Play, to help process purchases and keep paid access in sync. We do not receive your full credit card number or full payment account details from the app stores.

Advertising Identifiers and Device Information

When you use the PolyGOAT app, we and the advertising and measurement partners described below may collect device identifiers and technical information, such as:

Website and Beta Signup Information

When you use polygoat.app or join a beta or early access list, we may collect your email address, requested language, signup consent, signup source, UTM/referral information, page path, referrer, approximate location derived from IP address for signup analytics, and similar technical information.

Usage Data

When you use PolyGOAT or polygoat.app, we may collect usage analytics and diagnostics data, such as:

Support and Deletion Requests

If you contact support or request account deletion, we collect the information you provide, such as your email address, request details, and any information needed to verify and respond to your request.

How We Use Your Information

Language Goats uses the information we collect to:

Advertising

The free version of PolyGOAT is supported by advertising. PolyGOAT Pro removes all ads. We use Google AdMob, an advertising service provided by Google LLC, to show ads in the app. Google and its advertising partners may use advertising identifiers, IP address, and information about your device and your use of the app to select and show ads, measure ad performance, limit how often you see the same ad, and detect fraud.

Ads may be personalized or non-personalized. Non-personalized ads are based on context, such as the app you are using, your approximate location, and what is on the screen, rather than on your interests or past activity. Personalized ads use your advertising identifier and your activity across apps and websites.

We ask Google to serve only ad content rated "PG" or lower, so ads should not include gambling, dating, or mature content. Ads in PolyGOAT may be provided by advertisers and ad networks that buy ads through Google's platform; their practices are governed by their own privacy policies. You can read how Google uses information from apps that use its services at policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites and the Google Privacy Policy at policies.google.com/privacy.

Install Attribution and Marketing Measurement

We use AppsFlyer, a mobile measurement service provided by AppsFlyer Ltd., to understand which ad, post, creator, or link brought you to PolyGOAT, so we can measure our marketing and spend less on ads. When you install or open the app, the AppsFlyer software in the app may collect the advertising and device identifiers, IP address and approximate location, device and app information, and app events described above, and match them to the click or link that led you to the app store. On iOS, the IDFA is used for this only if you allow tracking.

We do not send your name or email address to AppsFlyer. We do connect the attribution result, such as the campaign that brought you here, to your account in our analytics and subscription systems, so we can see which channels bring learners who stay and who subscribe. In the future we may also share purchase and subscription events with AppsFlyer, and AppsFlyer may report installs or purchases attributed to an ad network back to that network so it can measure its ads.

AppsFlyer's privacy policy is at appsflyer.com/legal/services-privacy-policy. You can opt out of AppsFlyer measurement at appsflyer.com/legal/opt-out, or through the device settings described in Your Choices and Rights.

Tracking Permission on iOS

On iPhone and iPad, PolyGOAT asks for permission to track you across apps and websites owned by other companies, using Apple's App Tracking Transparency prompt. We ask so we can see which ads bring people to PolyGOAT, and so the ads shown in the app can be personalized. If you choose "Ask App Not to Track," we do not use your IDFA for these purposes and the app works exactly the same. You can change your choice at any time in your device settings under Settings > Privacy & Security > Tracking.

How We Share Information

We share limited device data with advertising partners to show and measure ads, and we never hand your personal information to anyone in exchange for money. Under some US state privacy laws, making device identifiers available to advertising partners for personalized ads counts as "sharing" personal information, and you can opt out of it as described in Your Choices and Rights. We do not knowingly share the personal information of anyone under 16 for personalized advertising.

We may share information in limited circumstances, including:

Cookies and Similar Technologies

polygoat.app uses cookies, local storage, and similar technologies for site functionality, analytics, attribution, and marketing measurement. For example, we may remember referral or UTM information so a later beta signup can be attributed to the correct campaign. Where required, we ask for consent before using optional analytics and advertising cookies. You can use browser or device settings to block or delete cookies and local storage, but some site features may not work as intended.

In the PolyGOAT app, our partners' software development kits (SDKs) use device and advertising identifiers instead of cookies for advertising, attribution, and analytics, as described above.

Data Security

Language Goats uses reasonable technical and organizational measures designed to protect the information we process. However, no method of transmission over the internet or electronic storage is 100% secure.

Third-Party Services

PolyGOAT and polygoat.app may include links, media, fonts, app store links, signup forms, analytics tools, authentication providers, crash-reporting tools, purchase and subscription tools, advertising services such as Google AdMob, marketing measurement services such as AppsFlyer, GIPHY GIF media, and other services operated by third parties. Their services may collect information under their own privacy policies.

Your Choices and Rights

Advertising and Tracking Choices

Access, Correction, and Deletion

You can request access, correction, or deletion of information we hold about you. You can also unsubscribe from marketing or beta emails using the unsubscribe link in those emails or by contacting us.

You can manage device permissions, such as notifications, through your device settings. You can request account deletion through the app: in Music, open the top-right menu, choose Music settings, then choose Delete account and data; or use the app's general settings. You can also use Delete my account if you cannot access the app. We may take reasonable steps to verify your request before acting on it.

Additional Rights Where You Live

Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights, such as the right to access, correct, delete, restrict, object to, or receive a copy of your personal information, withdraw consent, opt out of certain targeted advertising or data sharing, or lodge a complaint with a privacy regulator. To exercise privacy rights, contact [email protected].

If you live in California or another US state with a consumer privacy law, you can opt out of the sharing of your personal information for personalized advertising by using the choices above, or by emailing [email protected] with "Privacy choices" in the subject line. You may also use an authorized agent to make a request on your behalf. We will not discriminate against you for exercising your rights.

Legal Bases for Processing (EEA, UK, and Switzerland)

Where the GDPR or similar laws apply, we process personal information on these legal bases:

International Data Transfers

Language Goats is based in the United States, and our service providers may process information in the United States and in other countries whose laws may differ from those where you live. Where required, we rely on safeguards such as standard contractual clauses or the provider's own approved transfer mechanisms.

Data Retention

We retain account and progress information for as long as needed to provide PolyGOAT, unless you request deletion or a longer retention period is required or permitted by law. Account deletion requests are processed within 90 days, subject to verification, security, fraud prevention, legal obligations, backups, and other permitted retention needs.

Attribution results linked to your account are kept for as long as the account exists. Advertising identifiers and ad interaction data are retained by Google, and attribution data by AppsFlyer, for the periods described in their own privacy policies.

Marketing email records may be retained until you unsubscribe or request deletion. We may retain a limited suppression record so we can honor unsubscribe requests. Aggregated, de-identified, analytics, security, diagnostic, and backup records may be retained for longer where permitted by law.

Compliance With Laws

We take reasonable steps to comply with applicable privacy and data protection laws and regulations where we operate and where PolyGOAT is made available. If you have questions about your rights under local law, contact us and we will respond in accordance with applicable requirements.

Children's Privacy

PolyGOAT is intended for users age 13 and older. PolyGOAT is not directed to children under 13, and children under 13 should not create an account, join an email list, or provide personal information to PolyGOAT. Language Goats does not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 without appropriate parental consent. If you believe a child under 13 has provided personal information to PolyGOAT, contact us and we will take appropriate steps to delete it.

Younger learners may use PolyGOAT only through a parent or guardian, where permitted by law, and the parent or guardian is responsible for that use.

Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will take effect when posted unless a later effective date is stated, and we will update the "Last Updated" date.
